Lifeline

Every 30 seconds, a person in Australia reaches out to Lifeline for help.

We are a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

We exist so that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.

We also have an Indigenous support line where indigenous counsellors are available and can be contacted on 13 YARN (13 92 76).

Satellite Foundation

Satellite Foundation seeks to contribute to futures of hope and possibility for children and young people where a parent has a mental illness or mental health challenge.

We believe young people are the change-makers of the future and have enormous potential to positively influence and shape the way our society functions. Our programs foster creativity, hope and connections for children, young people and their families and aim to offer opportunities for growth and transformation with the dream that the cycle of mental illness is discontinued.

Satellite Foundation offers both online and in-person programs that aim to combat isolation through creative expression and peer connection. Our programs offer inclusive experiences that contribute towards building skills and self confidence while promoting healthy coping strategies. We encourage open dialogue and visual language to support young people to connect with and explore their personal and shared experiences. We encourage long term interactions between participants through future workshops and connecting activities.

Epilepsy Foundation

Our Support Team has expertise in how epilepsy affects health, well-being and daily living issues, incorporating person centred self-management strategies.

The Support Team can provide:

  • advice and information about epilepsy
  • advice about risk management and living well with epilepsy
  • individualised support for people living with epilepsy who require assistance with accessing supports and community resources
  • development of tailored Epilepsy Management Plans.

The NESS is free to access and is available to anyone. No referral is required.

Kidney Health

We are the peak body for kidney health in Australia. For over 50 years, we have connected people to the vital information. Including education and support services they need to preserve their kidney health. Aiding to live a better quality of life if they are diagnosed with kidney disease. We work with a range of stakeholders and community groups to drive innovations and improvements in the management of kidney disease. Our aim is to ensure one day every Australian can enjoy good kidney health.

Limbs 4 Life

Limbs 4 Life supports amputees, their families and primary care givers. So, whether you are facing limb loss for the first time or have been an amputee for many years, Limbs 4 Life can support you by providing pathways to information, programs and services.

We promote the best possible quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.  We advocate for the Parkinson’s community on issues of national significance. We work to reduce the impact of Parkinson’s. By promoting best practice care to ensure that people can maximise their opportunities to live well and maintain their independence.

Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free (even from a mobile), confidential 24/7 online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.

Qualified counsellors at Kids Helpline are available via web chat, phone or email anytime and for any reason.

headspace – National Youth Mental Health Foundation

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. We began in 2006, and ever since we’ve provided early intervention mental health services to 12-25-year-olds.  

Each year, we help thousands of young people, and their family and friends, access vital support through our headspace services in over 140 communities across Australia. We do this via our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.

Disability Gateway

The Disability Gateway has information and services to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers to find the support they need in Australia. The Disability Gateway can assist enquirers in the following areas:

  • Income and finance.
  • Employment, Aids and equipment.
  • Housing, Transport.
  • Health and wellbeing.
  • Everyday living.
  • Education.
  • Leisure as well as Rights and Legal services.

 

The Disability Gateway is a free service provided nationally Monday to Friday between 8:00am – 8:00pm (AEST).

The Salvation Army

Financial problems can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time. With debt building up, paying your rent or even buying food for your family can feel overwhelming.

Money troubles may leave people feeling lonely, embarrassed and isolated. If your financial situation gives you more of an icy shiver than a warm sense of safety, help is at hand. There are many services to help you get back on your feet. Financial counselling and coaching is available as well as a no interest loan scheme (NILS).

Emergency relief team can be reached at 1300 371 288 for ACT, NSW or QLD. In NT, SA, TAS, VIC or WA call or visit your nearest Salvos centre.

1800RESPECT

1800RESPECT is a confidential service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We provide support for: People experiencing, or at risk of experiencing,

  • sexual assault.
  • domestic or family violence.
  • their friends and family.
  • workers and professionals supporting someone experiencing.
  • or at risk of experiencing sexual assault, domestic or family violence.

Family Drug Support

Family Drug Support (FDS) is a national service for families dealing with drug and alcohol. FDS provides a toll free, 24-hour national telephone support line, as well as support groups, education programs, counselling and bereavement services for families.

FDS has also developed an online resource for families to help families deal with issues associated with ice and other drugs in a way that strengthens relationships and achieves positive outcomes.
